New Stride Selling Go Mario Go Pins at Hastings

As many of you are aware, our friend and local Hastings jockey Mario Gutierrez, will be competing in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.  We are all SO proud of his accomplishments and are extremely excited to watch him in the run for the roses.
 
To help cheer Mario on we will be selling some ‘GO MARIO GO’ pins at Hastings Racecourse THIS Saturday.  We’ve got 1,000 of these beauties and they are available for a minimum $1 donation, all profits going to New Stride Thoroughbred Adoption Society. 
 
We need your help though.  We need volunteers to help sell the pins from 1-3 pm.  Anybody can help – kids are okay too.  Come on out, enjoy the races and help us raise money while we cheer Mario on!  Email memery@newstride.com for more info.

Hello friends,

 
We hope that everyone is doing well.  Figured it was time to give all of our wonderful New Stride supporters an update:

And our latest edition…Tricksy!

Tricksy (it’s her registered name and it’s one of those one-word ones like Madonna) is really just a peach. Very cooperative and pleasant to be around, pretty and well put together, smart and willing  and completely sound and healthy. Tricksy did fairly well at the track and was on the board for half of her 14 starts, earning about $27K.  She did her best and certainly showed some athleticism on the track but apparently lost interest in racing in her last starts.  Tricksy’s owners chose to take her off the track in 2011 and were very keen to let us help find her another job this year.

With us for only a short time, Tricksy has already been going W/T/C and picks up both leads easily. She likes to work and settles in to her job easily and comfortably. More of a dominant type with other horses, Tricksy is very sensible and respectful with her human friends – with her handlers she’s simply confident about herself, not bossy. Her only drawback is cribbing and she’s not all that dedicated to her vice. Tricksy occasionally grabs on to her stall wall and burps; she doesn’t wear a collar presently and seems to mainly be interested in pursuing this activity when she is indoors for longer periods of time. If you can live with this one little blemish, you couldn’t ask for a nicer prospect for most any discipline.

We also have a few new horses that have recently entered our program:  Flame of Liberty, Agameone, and What About Joey.  They are undergoing their initial assessment phase and will be up on the website soon.

Recently adopted:

We’re very pleased to announce that Willie Katchem has been adopted!  Willie was a volunteer favorite and had developed quite the fan following on our Facebook page.  One might even say that he reached legendary status.  We’re looking forward to hearing about his progress with his new mom, Sarah.

New Stride Stallion Auction Closes Today

 2012 Stallion Seasons for Sale

 New Stride Thoroughbred Adoption Society 

New Stride Thoroughbred Adoption Society is proud to announce its annual stallion season auction starting immediately and ending on February 16, 2012. All proceeds from the auction are spent directly on our aftercare and adoption programs for retired Thoroughbred racehorses.

Enclosed is a mail-in bid sheet that lists the stallion seasons offered, their pedigrees, stud fees, and the farmswhere they stand. On February 16, all received bids will be reviewed, and bidding will start with the highest figure. Bidders are notified by telephone of the highest starting bid.

Please ensure you provide us with a telephone number where you can be reached on Thursday, February 16, after 6 pm.

All seasons are finalized by telephone as soon as possible after 6 pm on Thursday, February 16. The minimum bid is $500 (unless there is a specified reserve by the stallion owner). Bidding increments of $100 are required.

All payments for seasons are payable immediately and if not received by February 29, 2012, will be available for resale at the discretion of New Stride.

Stallion owners and managers reserve the right to accept only Thoroughbred broodmares that are clean and sound for breeding. Board, care and veterinary expenses are not included in the stallion season price.

Services are sold for the 2012 breeding season on a “no-guarantee”  basis, unless otherwise specified on the bid sheet. You may be able to purchase separate insurance to convert a no-guarantee season into a live-foal season. If you are interested in this option, please contact your insurance agent prior to bidding to ensure your mare qualifies for this type of insurance.

A no-guarantee season is exactly what the term implies. The winning bidder will have the services of the stallion for the cover of one mare during the 2012 breeding season only. Where a live foal guarantee is offered, the mare owner has the right of return the following year, but in either case, there are no refunds.

Hello friends,

 We’ve had an excellent start to the year with plenty of adoptions and lots of love from our supporters.
 
Update on our horses:

Good news: Marseille Pearl, Lazer Tech, and Guilded In Silver have been adopted!  Also up for adoption are: Agro, Along the Way, Regal Spice, Tough Torque, and Willie Katchem.

Check out some video of our latest star, Willie Katchem, learning to jump: http://youtu.be/0nviDyNuSvc.  Willie is February’s Horse of the Month!  Willie has proven himself to be an incredibly versatile guy.  Good looking, spunky and athletic, Willie has been very busy lately working on his saddle horse skills and learning a little natural horsemanship with Jay O’Jay.  Willie would be a great match for a more experienced rider who likes a lively horse and is looking for a project. Willie moves beautifully and looks great in Western or English tack.

We’ll have a few new additions to our roster soon, so make sure you check back on our website for more details.

Tack Sale:

We’re participating in a large tack sale on Saturday, March 3rd from 10 am until 2 pm at the Abbotsford Ag Rec (Abbotsford Agri Fair Grounds).  The sale will be held in a heated indoor venue and there will be plenty of free parking.  If you’re looking for some great deals on all-things-horsey, come on out!  We’re also looking for some extra hands to help set up our section and staff the booth.  If you can spare a couple of hours, please let us know.

Stallion Auction:

New Stride’s Annual Stallion Season Auction is here again!  In 2012 we offer breeders opportunities on 14 of BC’s finest studs, with proceeds of each succesful bid going directly to our aftercare and adoption programs.
